Training on Identification, Screening, and Referral of Vulnerable Categories of Migrants
Within the project “Strengthening the cross-border cooperation and border management capacities of North Macedonia", funded by the State Secretariat for Migration SEM, IOM North Macedonia organized a 2-day workshop on enhancing the capacities of border police officials for identification, screening, and referral of vulnerable categories of migrants.
Participants, representatives of the Regional Center for Border Affairs – South, had the opportunity to learn more about the standard operating procedures for processing vulnerable categories of foreign nationals (SOPs), overview of the background and functionalities of IOM Migration Translation Application (MiTA), gender mainstream in border management, indicators for identification of victims of human trafficking (VoT) among migrants, and more.
The objective of the workshop was to contribute to strengthening the border management capacities in addressing cross-border crime, including smuggling of migrants and trafficking in human beings in line with international standards and with human rights – and gender-based approach.
