Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting since 1951 humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. Across North Macedonia, IOM provides a comprehensive response to the humanitarian needs of migrants, internally displaced persons, returnees and host communities.

Support to the Returnees in their Reintegration Process
Skopje - In 2022, IOM has provided Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) assistance to a total of 46 returnees primarily from Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands and other European countries.
The assistance for the returnees includes pre-departure counselling, acquisition of travel documents, travel arrangements, transit and arrival assistance and escort services for the travel where the necessary and individually-tailored reintegration support.
The reintegration support after the return is being implemented in close cooperation with the national authorities and other relevant actors and tailored assistance is being provided to vulnerable returnees to facilitate their re-inclusion into the society and their access to services, including direct support to address their vulnerabilities.
