Presentation of the Progress Declaration from the 1st International Migration Review Forum (IMRF)

Skopje - On 2 November 2022, the 3rd meeting of the UN Network on Migration of North Macedonia co-chaired by the UN Resident Coordinator and IOM was organized with participation of 21 members of the Network and the government partners – members of the intra-governmental body for development and implementation of the country migration policy.

The aim of the meeting was to present the Progress Declaration from the 1st International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) that took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on 17-20 May 2022. The goal of the Forum was to review the progress made at the local, national, regional and global levels in implementing the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM).

The Progress Declaration, as noted by the IOM Head of Office contains, among other, the evaluation of the overall progress made with respect to the implementation of the 23 objectives of the Global Compact at all levels; identification of the key challenges, opportunities and emerging issues related to the implementation of the Global Compact, and the scope for further international cooperation on international migration and the recommendations on the implementation of the Global Compact.

The Government of North Macedonia was one of 59 individual member states who prepared and submitted Voluntary National Review of the status with the Implementation of the GCM for the period 2019-2021. IOM and the members of the UN Network on Migration in North Macedonia will continue to support the Government’s efforts for implementation of the GCM and the recommendations from the Progress Declaration.
