IOM DIRECTOR GENERAL-ELECT PARTICIPATED IN THE PANEL 'SOLIDARITY AND SHARED COMMITMENTS IN MIGRATION MANAGEMENT' AT THE PRESPA FORUM DIALOGUE"
The Director General-Elect of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amy Pope, participated in the 3rd Annual Prespa Forum Dialogue, which took place in Struga, North Macedonia, from 15-16 June 2023. Ms. Pope was a special guest at the session on "EU-Western Balkans Migration Management: Solidarity and Shared Commitments," hosted by the Minister of Interior of North Macedonia, Mr. Oliver Spasovski.
"Migration is a source of prosperity, innovation, and sustainable development, and IOM will continue supporting the Western Balkans in promoting comprehensive, sustainable, and solutions-oriented approaches to effectively manage migration and harness its development potential," said Ms. Amy Pope in her keynote speech.
Some of the other speakers who joined the panel discussion were the Minister without Portfolio of Montenegro, Zoran Miljanić, the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Nešić, the Special Representative of Austria for the Western Balkans, Johannes Eigner, the Director of the Migration Asylum Refugee Regional Initiative (MARRI) Regional Centre in North Macedonia, Sashko Kocev, the Head of the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Union, Pavel Busiakievich, and the President of Romano Avazi, Selvije Mustafi.
The Prespa Forum Dialogue is a platform created by the Government of North Macedonia to gather leaders, organizations, think-tanks, and civil activists in order to build long-term relationships, strengthen partnerships, and foster dialogue for the development of regional cooperation.
