Empowering Youth Voices Through Digital Storytelling
A well-told story has the power to shift human understanding and behaviour. Storytelling can be one of the most effective tools for activating young people, which makes up around 22% of the population in North Macedonia (15-29 years of age). During this workshop, youth from nine communities learned how to positively frame a story so that they may effect positive changes and generate goodwill within their communities and beyond. “The Power of Positive Storytelling” teaches youth skills that will enable them to lead by example. Young people were equipped with tactics that will help them tell short, compelling stories that will allow them to inspire and motivate the right kind of emulation in others.
The sessions focus on the creation of stories that can elicit social change, how to introduce multiple perspectives into stories which we want to have a social impact, how to communicate a message, etc. Succeeding the sessions, youth who are willing to engage further are being motivated and provided with the required tools in order to continue with the activity in their community.
