Addressing Gender Socialization and Masculinity Norms
Saraj - In August 2022, within the project “Providing support to youth in local communities in North Macedonia“, supported by the Government of the United Kingdom, IOM North Macedonia organized two capacity-building trainings on “Event Management” and “Toxic Masculinity”, for young people from nine communities from North Macedonia.
The Event Management Training increased the skills of the participants in organization of events, workshops, trainings, operating within events’ budget, managing people and logistics, etc.
During the Toxic Masculinity training, young people learn the meaning of toxic masculinity, objectification, and misogyny through interactive exercises, to see the difference between gender and sex through examples and identify the negative impact of rigid gender norms on boys/men and girls/women. This training helped to raise youth awareness of the norms and stereotypes of male and female behaviour in the community.
